Payment & PCI Compliance Policy

How 1UP Esports takes payments for memberships and tournament entries, how your card details are handled, and what to do if something looks wrong.

Who processes your payment

All payments for memberships and tournament entries are processed by Stripe, a specialist payment provider. Stripe states that it is certified to the highest level of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). You can read more on Stripe's own security pages.

How your card details are handled

When you pay, the payment form is provided by Stripe and shown securely inside our site. Your card number, expiry date and security code go straight to Stripe over an encrypted connection. They are never sent to, seen by or stored on 1UP Esports' systems.

Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment, for example in your banking app. This extra check helps protect you from fraud.

What we keep

To link your payment to your account, we keep only:

  • the plan or tournament entry you bought, and the amount;
  • your membership status and renewal date;
  • the email address on your account;
  • Stripe's reference numbers for the payment and membership.

See our Privacy Policy for how we look after your personal data.

Prices and VAT

Prices shown on our site are the total you pay, including VAT. You must be signed in before paying, so every payment links to your account. Each account can hold one membership at a time.

Renewals, plan changes and failed payments

  • Memberships renew automatically each month or year until you cancel.
  • You can change plan, update your card or cancel at any time from My Membership using Manage Membership.
  • If you change plan, the price is adjusted for the time left in your current period.
  • If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will try again and you keep access while it does.

For cancellations and refunds, see our Refund Policy.

Staying safe

  • We will never ask for your card details by email, phone, chat or social media.
  • Only pay through the checkout on our website.
  • Under-16s should ask a parent or carer before making any payment.

Reporting a payment problem

If you see a charge you don't recognise, think you've been charged twice, or receive a suspicious message claiming to be from us, email support@1upesports.gg or use our Report Issue page. If you think your card has been misused, contact your bank straight away as well.
