1. INTRODUCTION

This Cookie Policy explains how 1UP Esports ("we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar browser storage when you visit our website. In short: we only use storage that is strictly necessary to run the site, such as keeping you signed in. We do not use analytics, advertising, social media tracking or tracking pixels.

This policy is designed to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK Data Protection Act, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

2. WHAT ARE COOKIES

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used by website owners to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information. Cookies set by the website owner are called "first-party cookies". Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies".

3. COOKIES WE USE

We only use strictly necessary storage:

  • Sign-in storage: when you sign in, your browser stores a secure sign-in token so you stay signed in as you move between pages. It is removed when you sign out.
  • Sign-up storage: if you start joining with Google, Apple, Microsoft or Lovable, your browser briefly stores the details you entered (such as your name and gamertag) so we can finish creating your account. It is deleted as soon as your profile is saved.
  • Security storage: our hosting and sign-in providers may set small cookies that protect the site against abuse and keep sign-in secure.
  • We do not use analytics or performance cookies, marketing or targeting cookies, or social media tracking cookies.

4. THIRD-PARTY COOKIES

We do not place third-party analytics, advertising or social media cookies on our website. When you pay for a membership or tournament entry, you are taken to Stripe's secure payment page, and when you sign in with Google, Apple, Microsoft or Lovable you use their sign-in page. Those services may set their own cookies on their own pages, under their own cookie policies.

Because we only use strictly necessary storage, the law does not require us to ask for consent, so we do not show a cookie banner. If we ever add analytics or any other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy first and will not load them until you choose to accept them, with an equally easy option to reject.

6. HOW TO CONTROL COOKIES

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. However, if you limit the ability of websites to set cookies, you may worsen your overall user experience. Here is how you can manage cookies on popular browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
  • Apple Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and website data.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions.

7. SIMILAR TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

We do not use web beacons, tracking pixels or clear gifs on our website.

8. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

Sign-in storage lasts until you sign out or your session expires. Sign-up storage is deleted once your profile is saved. Security cookies set by our providers last for a short time, usually no longer than your visit.

9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Information collected through cookies may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the country in which you are resident. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place when such transfers occur.

10. SECURITY

We use appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect the information collected via cookies from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

11. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Some of our players are young people. We do not use any tracking, analytics or advertising cookies for anyone, including under-16s. Players under 16 need consent from a parent or carer to take part, as explained in our Parental Consent process.

Our website may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the cookie practices of these other sites. We encourage you to read the cookie policies of any website you visit.

13. CONTACT AND COMPLAINTS

If you have any questions about our use of cookies or other technologies, please email us at:

privacy@1upesports.gg

If you are located in the UK, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe we have not handled your data in accordance with the law.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please therefore re-visit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.
